Some Ch-Ch-Changes

What's up! Just to let you guys know some changes to the main website and forum:

1. New colors

For the longest time, yes I was looking at those annoying bright green links. The greens are kinda there since day one so I thought they're some kinda trademark or something. But the truth is, bright green against white is highly unreadable (unlike this forum which is awesome) and not pleasing to the eye. So I've changed all the links to blue and all the sidebar text to Verdana for legibility. I'll keep making minor changes this month. Hope you like.

2. Less ads, less eyesore

This is good news for me and hopefully you guys too. I hate clutter but the site has so gotten freakin' big already we need some good support system, hence the flashy ads. Since I got a couple of decent sponsors for this month (Hunk du Jour is one of them OMG), I have decided to pull away the Google ads in the post (after the title), I know they're really distracting for regulars but actually they helped paying the site's expensive MT hosting. Now that they're gone, you guys can drool with less eyesore. Whoopee!!

3. Naughty words

If you're posting regularly to this forum, I really appreciate if you guys don't use naughty words like "ass", "naked", etc. in the title. They can be in your post but please not on the title since they will apear on the "Recent Forum Topics" on the main website. And we all want to keep the main 100% SFW so you guys can open it on your coffee breaks at the office (or Solitaire time, whichever you prefer LOL).

4. Eggs, sausages & buns forum

It's still there but I have disabled all access because I don't want to turn this forum into an adult one, y'know? Besides, who knows a 12 year old registered and views all the goodies inside. Not cool!

That's all for now. I'll post here if anything else come to mind. Let me know what you guys think!

Re: Some Ch-Ch-Changes

The first two things are great but the last two are probably a request from one of your sponsors, no? Happens a lot to popular websites.

Anyway, great changes for the better ^^

Well almoose, the good news is I won't change the forum's colors, and lime def looks best with black. smile

@Virtue

For the record, smile  Hunk du Jour just loves SquareHippies and didn't attach any strings of the sort onto our sponsorship -- and it really is that!  We think SquareHippies is fantastic and want to see it around for a long time, so we're MORE than willing to throw our support behind them.

@Hunk du Jour

Great to hear from you because I think you're an amazing sponsor and it would have surprised me if anything as such would have been imposed by such a great website. Thanks for clarifying ^^

I'm new to this site and was wondering if members are permitted to assign their own password. I'll never be able to remember the one squarehippies assigned to me.

Re: Some Ch-Ch-Changes

Hey I noticed some changes, looks great, although I do have something to pick on.  Whenever a new post or thread has been posted on a particular forum, the little symbol to the left (where the forum/thread name is) is not yellow/orange anymore, it stays white.  Same thing happens within the forum, is that permanent or are you fixing that square?

Re: Some Ch-Ch-Changes

Actually there's a little star next to them when they have new replies, but I am fixing that real soon. A different color is a much better idea. Thanks for the heads up! smile

Re: Some Ch-Ch-Changes

I think the star is fine; it just needs to be a more contrasting color from the other symbol. As it is, they kind of blend together. If the star were a bright red or something like that, it would be more visible. (I missed it, too, MSJMcL85.)
